Durham U14s Festival of Football Tournament - Crook Town
Would all parents & Players please note that the U 14's have been invited to participate in the Durham Ameteur Football Trust " Festival Of Football " tournament on Saturday 18th July and Sunday 19th July.
This is a huge event with more than 1000 people expected to attend!!
The trust have organised the tournament to celebrate some of the North East amateur sides glory years from the 50's & 60's
and Newton Ayclife U14's have been invited to represent West Auckland. There are 3 other invited teams including Bishop Auckland St Mary's, Willington and Wolviston. Each team will be issued a replica strip which will be the same design and colours as worn in the 50'sand 60's by the team you are representing.
the format of the competition is quite simple with a draw taking place to decide which team plays each other on the Saturday with 1 game played on the morning and 1 game played during the afternoon. The two winning teams will then play each other in the final on the Sunday whilst the two loosing teamswill also play each other on the Sunday to decide 3rd and 4th place. The winners will be presented with the Jack Snowden Trophy and every team player will receive a medal for taking part.
The trust will arrange independant referees and linesmen. The trust are even hoping that ex professional referee George Courtney will be involved in officiating some of the matches and Tyne Tees television have also expressed an interest in filming some of the event which I am sure you agree sounds as though it will be a great couple of days.
Al games will be played at Crook Town FC and we will be extended the use of the changing facilities etc and refreshments will be served to team managers and players.
If you can support this event then please contact David Prior or Nige Slatcher
Thanks,
